recent distractions

I am in the process of coloring some comics.

I plan on doing that for the next day and the day after that.

Kevin Budnik has been doing his daily drawings of stuff from his room.
I like the idea and in that spirit I photographed my book shelf.
I think I should have drawn it though.

And I got a kick out of this comic I found
of Jay Lynch and R. Crumb meeting Chester Gould.

Well I have progressed into inking the pages. If all goes to schedule I will be coloring this next week.

As you can see the title portion is blank. I do the titles on a separate large sheet of paper to get more detail and control and then scale it down proportionally in the final output.

I plan to update this with more shots of inked pages over the weekend.

5 pages

So this is is a photo of the rough pencils for my contribution to Linework. I am doing 5 pages total with two separate stories.

The stories all live in a larger narrative that I am writing at the moment. I actually sent the editors a synopsis of them but ended up ditching one of them and writing this other story instead which is the one on the bottom of the photo. So yeah surprise surprise.

Right now I am in the penciling stage on the nice Bristol board. I have the majority of the text written out in my sketch book. Once I start inking things will go fast.

VACUUM HORROR

I don't know why I went this long with out posting about Vacuum Horror
Well nonetheless Vacuum Horror is an anthology of comics edited by Max Morris.

Max is nothing short of a fellow friend, cartoonist, and walking comics referencer. So when Max asked me to contribute I of course said yes. Max did the cover which looks like an amorphous blob that you would see in a petri dish. I dig the cover a lot.

It contains work by: Leslie Weibeler, Dane Martin, Edie Fake, Max Morris, Brett Koontz, Onsmith, Andy Burkholder, April Camlin, Anya Davidson, David Alvarado, Paul Nudd, and Nick Drnaso.

I must say after reading the whole thing it has quite a punch and demonstrates some really great bizarre and weird talent that is out there. The photo above is the table of contents and end papers which were done by Joe Tallarico.
Here are some more photos

Check it out, I know I saw some at Quimbys for eight bucks.
